Mr Marquis qualified from the University of Liverpool and then underwent basic surgical training on the Mersey Deanery Rotation, before being appointed on the Stoke/ Oswestry rotation. During his final years of training he underwent sub specialty training in his chosen field of Foot and Ankle surgery, including a Fellowship with the Sheffield Foot and Ankle Unit.
