Role: Trial Statistician
Simon Skene has more than 15 years’ experience, combining research and teaching in Statistics with the Open University and Birkbeck College. He holds a BSc in Mathematics and Statistics, MSc in Applied Statistics and Operational Research, and completed his PhD in Medical Statistics at LSHTM in 2008. His research focusses on covariance modelling for repeated measures designs with small samples, and he has a strong interest in clinical trial methodology and analysis.
Before joining the UCL Comprehensive Clinical Trials Unit in December 2013, Simon was Lecturer in Statistics at Birkbeck, where he was responsible for introducing a Medical Applications pathway as part of the MSc Applied Statistics programmes. He has consultancy experience within the pharmaceutical industry and is a fellow of the Royal Statistical Society, where he served as a committee member of the Statistical Computing Section in 2010-11.
